Drivers & Dragons is a boardgamey-inspired game jam submission made for the National Road Safety Week Game Jam 2022

----

Visit the 9 Areas of this map, and collect the pieces of the National Road Safety Week message. But be careful. If your characters become too fatigued, or otherwise unable to drive, it's a GAME OVER.

----

I pledge to drive as if my loved ones are on the road ahead.

I will remove all distractions and never use my mobile phone while driving.

I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

I will protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harm’s way, by slowing down and giving them the space they need to be safe.

----

HOW TO PLAY

Each turn can be done in 4 steps:

Step 1 - Assign Seats

Each of your 5 characters is given a different seat

Each seat has different effects, choose wisely

The aim of the game is to clear all the regions

While maintaining SANITY and FATIGUE

-!! the DRIVER is a special position

-!! if your DRIVER is impaired, it is a GAME OVER

Step 2 - Draw Card

Draw a card to start the main phase of your turn

Cards can be used during the main phase

Cards consume AP, and can give special bonuses

If you are finding yourself stuck, consider using a card

Step 3 - Main Phase (Visit)

During the main phase, you can visit 1 location

Locations are indicated by circles on the map

Locations with repeat actions will have a star next to them

A location will often ask for a SKILL CHECK.

To do a SKILL CHECK, select any number of characters

and roll a dice.

If the dice roll exceeds the SKILL CHECK number, you pass

For each character chosen, give them 1 FATIGUE.

Characters with AFFINITY for a skill get +1 bonus point

Step 4 - Travel (Combat)

After completing the main phase, you may drive and travel to another area

Travelling to another area involves fighting 3 monsters

The monsters will appear as a group of 1, then 2.

To battle, you must choose a character with HP above 0

Then you can attack using FATIGUE or SANITY.

Your character will do DAMAGE based on their ATTACK stat.

Not all characters have the same ATTACK stat.

If the enemy is not defeated, it will COUNTERATTACK.

COUNTERATTACK will cost you HP.

Not all characters have the same amount of HP.
